ABOUT US

Hello from the Balboas

We are a large family of ten living in southwest Michigan. My husband and I have been married since 1999. Poncho is a contractor and the owner of Christian Construction and I am a stay at home mom. We are homeschoolers, striving to cater to our children’s goals for the future while building a strong foundation to lean on.

In September of 2016, we experienced much heartbreak, support, and reminders of God’s unending love after losing our oldest son, Chito, to a car accident. We have been through a lot over the years, and through our experiences, I believe we can bring encouragement and a bit of education to others.  We passionately believe in a strong family unit, each person living organically, while actively pursuing God’s calling on their life.

We started off living in the suburbs with our yellow lab Cloie, not knowing that God had something quite different in mind for our family’s future. Our move to our current dwelling place in the country activated a love for all living things and we currently have eight dogs, two horses, five bunnies, and who-knows-how-many barn cats. We are in the process of rebuilding our barn after a destructive fire claimed every bit of our last one. Once our barn is finished, we will reintroduce pigs, goats, and chickens to our homestead. I have developed an immense love of gardening and look forward to sharing my struggles and triumphs while I learn the true art of living off the land.

We like to think outside the box, find natural solutions, increase our knowledge on holistic health and wellness, as well as equipping ourselves to provide all of our needs right here from our family farm. As with anything, this pursuit is an ongoing journey. We aren’t where we strive to be, but we’ve come so far from where we were.

We are also actively breeding Doodles, as we believe these dogs make wonderful family pets. Our children enjoy taking part in the whole puppy process: loving on the puppies, feeding, and caring for them, before finding them forever homes. We have seen that God is always good, through times of trial and peace, and we hope you will see that too, as we share our testimony with you.

Blessings,
